Laboratory of Cell Signaling and Metabolic Disorders is currently recruiting Postdoctoral Associate to undertake a project: “Lipid-signaling in regulation of pancreatic islet developmnet: novel function of stearoyl-CoA desaturase and monoacylglycerol lipase”. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in the fields of life sciences and have extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry. The research is funded by National Science Centre within the SONATA BIS Programme.

Postdoctoral Researcher Position

Funding: 5000 PLN/month (subject to income tax)                                                                        Application deadline: September 15, 2016                                                                                                      Start date: October 1, 2016                                                                                                                 

Candidates must have earned doctoral degree and have extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology, and/or biochemistry. Persons who would defend their Ph.D. thesis shortly after the application deadline, and before a start of the employment contract, are eligible to apply.

Recruitment procedure

The successful PostDoc candidate is expected to:

  • - hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology or  medical sciences,
  • - have extensive experience molecular biology or biochemistry, and a strong background in managing high-throughput projects,
  • - have outstanding publication record,
  • - be highly motivated (demonstrated via joint publications, references of the   candidate's thesis tutor,  previous post-doctoral positions different from the PhD awarding institutions).

Selection criteria
A detailed analysis of the received applications will be based on the following evaluation criteria:

  • - The list of publications: 0 - 40 points
  • - The professional experience: 0 - 30 points; that includes: previous post-doctoral  positions: 0-15 points, the awarded external grants and fellowships: 0-15 points;
  • - Previous international experience: 0-20 points
  • - Participation in scientific meetings and conferences: 0-15 points
  • - The reference(s): 0 - 20 points
  • - The certificates of extra qualifications that may be of some value for the execution of  the project: 0 - 15 points

Short-listed candidates with the highest score will be selected for personal interviews. Interviews will take place at the Nencki Institute at the end of September, 2016.


Successful candidates will be selected based on the total number of points obtained and with the positive opinion from the SONATA BIS Project leader Prof. Agnieszka Dobrzyn.
